Providing Electricity to Rural Masses Contd...
According to him, as of November 2006, there were around 25 million people in Brazil who lacked access to electricity (Refer to Exhibit II for a Note on Brazilian Economy and its Power Sector). Rosa realized that access to electricity would provide many ways to these people to increase their income levels. However, his attempts to find solutions that would allow them access to electricity met with several obstacles.
Rosa started off working as a part of the government to bring electricity to the rural areas in Brazil. He teamed up with several people like local politicians and academicians who helped him in overcoming some of the obstacles that lay in the way of achieving rural electrification.

Rosa was keen on bringing about a significant positive difference in low-income families living in the rural areas in the country. He observed that there was a major exodus of people from the villages to the urban areas in search of better incomes and life styles. Through his efforts, he wanted to attract migrants from rural areas back to their villages.
Rosa changed his strategy and business model whenever he came across a barrier that could not be overcome. However, his goal remained the same
- to improve the income levels of the rural families living in Brazil by providing them with access to electricity.
In 1992, Rosa established a private firm, Sistemas de Technologia Adequada Agroeletro6 (STA), to pursue his goal of rural electrification...
